Maks Kavčič (1909-1973)
For his paintings exhibited in Maribor and Ljubljana in 1969

The painter Maks Kavčič was always interested in the expressive potential of colour. His innate musical, restless disposition found its expression in diverse technical variations. His creative path went from fauvist expressive colouring to a more abstract construction. He also successfully pursued set design and specialised in art restoration, thus working as a painter, teacher, restorer and set designer. With the power of his work, his never-ending exploration and his personal influence, he was instrumental in the formation of art groups in Maribor and the Štajerska region.
