With his paintings, prints and theoretical work, formally trained painter Bojan Gorenec was one of the key figures of Slovenian art of the 1980s. In this heterogeneous decade, he confidently and consistently stayed true to his creative origins, which derived from the key ontological question in art – how to catch a viewer’s eye with the image. His artistic reflections offer original solutions in an expressive language which is based on modernism as a continuity of the entire visual and philosophical tradition. Gorenec’s series of paintings and prints show that the modern image is not necessarily Medusa’s head, which turns to stone everything that lays eyes on it.
